Chris Pounds: has been visiting the Pyrenees since 1972. He holds the International Mountain Leader Award and is a member of the British Association of International Mountain Leaders.. He is also a Mountain Instructor (Summer and Wint er) and a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.
He has been hillwalking since childhood. He has lived and worked in Scotland since 1975, but moved to France in 2002. He is now registered as an Accompagnateur en Montagne with the Departement de Jeunesse et Sports.
He has run trips for groups in the Alps, the Pyrenees, the Picos de Europa, the Tatra in Slovakia, Norway, Austria, and Germany, and also climbed in the Himalayas.
Chris has a lifelong interest in wildlife and the environment, and hold a B.Sc. Hons in Botany and Zoology from the University of London, and a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Aberdeen.
